How Train Navigator Began
This project started as something deeply personal. I've always loved the outdoors: the serenity of mountain trails, the calm of forests, the salt air by the sea. But as I travelled more, I became aware of my impact. The same nature that grounded me was being harmed by how we reached it. To travel more sustainably, I began making lists of places reachable by train. What seemed simple quickly turned into hours of research. That frustration became the seed of Train Navigator - a way to make sustainable travel easier for everyone.
What do we do?
Train Navigator was founded to make it easier for people to choose greener travel options by replacing short-haul flights with train journeys to exciting destinations. Planning trips to hiking trails, surfing spots, or hidden destinations used to be unnecessarily complicated: it would take hours of searching blogs, checking routes, and figuring out which hikes or activities were accessible. Train Navigator attempts to answer a simple question: Where can I go by train to do what I love within my preferred travel time and connections?
Why Trains Are the Better Way to Explore Europe?
Short-haul flights generate a significant amount of CO₂. A one-hour flight produces roughly the same emissions as a full week of train travel. Trains, in contrast, emit up to 90% less CO₂. Choosing the train instead of a flight reduces your carbon footprint and supports sustainable transport. Every trip by rail adds up, turning small individual choices into a meaningful collective impact.
